The House of Representatives is the lower chamber of Nigeria's National Assembly and the most direct representation of the Nigerian people. With 360 members, it is the largest elected body in the country.
Structure:

- •Constituencies are distributed based on population
- •Lagos and Kano have 24 constituencies each (the most)
- •Bayelsa has just 5 (the fewest)
Powers:
- •Initiates revenue and appropriation bills (money bills start here)
- •Approves the national budget
- •Can impeach the President (with 2/3 majority, in conjunction with the Senate)
- •Investigates government agencies and officials
- •Oversees federal spending and accountability
Speaker of the House: The Speaker is elected by House members and presides over proceedings. The Speaker is the fourth-highest ranking official in Nigeria.
2027: All 360 seats are up for election. The House is where Nigeria's grassroots political battles play out — every constituency represents a community with specific needs and grievances.
