Kano APC Rejects Arewa Forum, Reaffirms Strong Support for Tinubu's Second Term
The All Progressives Congress in Kano State firmly disowns claims by the 'Arewa APC Forum' of withdrawing support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid. Party leadership asserts the forum is unknown to its structure, dismissing its allegations of federal government nepotism and incompetence as baseless mischief. This public repudiation reinforces Kano's commitment to the Tinubu administration.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State delivers a sharp rebuke to the self-proclaimed 'Arewa APC Forum,' flatly denying any withdrawal of support for President Bola Tinubu's bid for a second term. The party leadership in Kano decisively distances itself from the forum's recent public declaration, which signals a move away from the current federal administration. This firm stance by the Kano APC immediately quashes any speculation about internal party dissent affecting Tinubu's 2027 prospects in the crucial northern state.
Earlier, the Arewa APC Forum, through its Chairman Sallah Kibiya, issued a statement announcing its decision to no longer back President Bola Tinubu (APC, Lagos State) for re-election. The forum cited “extensive consultations and careful reflection” as the basis for its shift. It explicitly stated it could not “in good conscience” continue supporting an administration it claims is “widely criticised for nepotism, incompetence, and corruption.”
The group further argued that leadership must “inspire confidence, uphold fairness, and demonstrate a sincere commitment to national unity, institutional integrity, and responsible governance.” It warned that “where these values are persistently undermined, silence becomes complicity.” The forum then directed its members to align with this position in all future political engagements.
Party Rejects Disunity Claims
In a swift response, Auwalu Abdullahi, the APC Publicity Secretary for Kano State, slammed the forum's announcement as “false, misleading, and a calculated attempt to tarnish” the party's image. Abdullahi (APC, Kano State) stated clearly that the APC in Kano recognizes “attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party.”
The party then underscored its position: “We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State.” This direct repudiation leaves no room for ambiguity regarding the forum's legitimacy within the Kano APC hierarchy.
Kano APC leadership explicitly reaffirms its unwavering support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu (APC, Lagos State). The party urges all its members and the wider public to dismiss any statements designed to sow mischief and generate unnecessary political tension. Kano APC remains a key pillar of support for the President's vision ahead of 2027.
